Winter League this year was resounding success for CIAC. Our Grade 6 Green team made it all the way to the Winter League Phase II final, winning on the day in Douglas Lawn Tennis Club. The team had a fantastic run throughout going unbeaten for much of the competition. The Winter League is a long competition and it takes more than just the players on finals day to make it. Mary O’Keefe and Aileen O’Connell played crucial roles in the early part of the competition subbing in when required. The team on finals day were Mark O’Keeffe (Captain), Kate McGrath, Eoin O’Callaghan and Kate O’Neill. Nenagh Lawn Tennis Club always serve up powerful players and it took a super set on the final day to decide the winners with Kate O’Neill and Mark O’Keeffe holding their nerve and seeing out the win.

As always Barry O’Shea was there on the day to support and he deserves a huge amount of credit for the support he gives to the Winter League teams. Our entry this year was fantastic, with a Grade 5 team and three Grade 6 teams all entering. No doubt next year we will have more club members put their hands up to represent the club in Munster. If you have any questions about what is involved in Winter League reach out to your club members who will fill in on how it all works.

Who knows maybe next year you could have a prosecco reception waiting for you back in the pavilion! CIAC Abú!
